Aurora is city spanning Arapahoe, Adams, and Douglas Counties in the state of Colorado.

The city is one of the most populated in the State of Colorado, and in the top 100 in the United States with a population of approximately 100,000.

The city and its western neighbor are the principal cities of the Denver-Aurora Metropolitan Statistical Area, which has a population of approximately 2.5 million.

Although many have considered the city of Aurora to simply be Denver's larger suburbs, its growing population in recent decades (now over half the size of the City of Denver) has increased its status as almost equal to that of its neighbor Denver. However, its lack of a large, historically important central business district in the city hampers its efforts.
